Let’s take the
next step.

Short answers for students. Useful details for the grown-ups helping them.

Start with one lesson

  1. On Home, tap Add notes.
  2. Take a photo, choose a file, or paste notes. Give the topic a name.
  3. Open the topic. Tap Create questions, then From my notes — No AI.
  4. When questions are saved, tap Start quiz.

No AI sign-in is needed for these steps. Check the text and answers against your original lesson.

Add photos, files, or text

Add notes puts all three choices together. Camera access is optional; you can always choose a file or paste.

What files can I use?

Use an unlocked PDF, a clear image, modern Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx), Excel (.xlsx), OpenDocument (.odt, .odp, .ods), RTF, or plain-text file. Export older .doc, .ppt, .pps, and .xls files to PDF or a modern Office format first.

Choose files under 15 MB. Add up to 8 files at once. PDFs and multi-page images can contain up to 80 pages; split longer documents into chapters.

Google Drive, OneDrive & Google schoolwork

Install and sign in to the provider’s app, enable its location in Apple’s Files app, then choose the file through Study Partner’s Files picker. Cloud files need internet access until they finish downloading. Export Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets as PDF or a supported Office file.

Check what the app read

Open My notes and compare the text with the original. OCR reads words from pictures; it does not explain diagrams, graphs, equations, or every handwritten mark. Correct mistakes before studying. If a page is mostly a diagram, add a clear written explanation to your notes.

Mark what will be on the test

  1. Open a topic, then My notes.
  2. Open the source you want to study.
  3. Use the highlight controls to tap a sentence or mark an exact excerpt.
  4. Return to Create questions or Add questions.

Saved test highlights get their own question coverage when questions are created. New highlights may need questions before the next quiz starts. Check the highlighted text first; an unreadable or incomplete phrase cannot guarantee a useful question.

Create questions your way

From my notes — No AI

This makes sentence-completion recall questions from readable text and test highlights, right on your device. It works without internet or an AI account. It practices wording from the material; it is not a complete assessment of understanding.

AI-generated

An eligible adult can choose optional AI creation with their own connected account and notes permission. AI can produce broader questions and explanations. Read the account, age, and cost details.

Add questions without starting over

Add questions expands the saved bank. Choose a goal up to 200 general questions; test-highlight questions are added separately. Thin or repetitive notes may produce fewer useful questions. A target count is not a promise that every idea in a long document was covered.

Question labels distinguish No AI, AI-generated, and imported origins. Older questions may say their origin was not recorded. Imported origin labels report what the file says; they do not prove how a third party created it.

Import a teacher’s quiz or paste one

Choose Import a quiz on Home or in the question area. Open a Study Partner shared quiz file, or paste a quiz in the format shown by the import screen. Review the question preview and add it to the topic.

If you use ChatGPT, Claude, or another tool outside the app, follow the app’s displayed quiz format before pasting. A teacher can also create and share a quiz for students to import. Importing and practicing do not require an AI account.

Check the answers and sources. A label such as AI-generated does not mean a teacher reviewed the quiz. A shared quiz can include relevant source excerpts and highlights, so check what you share.

Take a quiz, then try again

Start quiz uses the questions you already saved. Choose a short session, a topic to practice, or all saved questions. It does not create new questions or make an AI request.

  • Tap an answer once to check it. Use the unsure option when you want more time to choose.
  • Read the feedback and any memory hint. The app quietly revisits missed questions later in a learning quiz.
  • Answer positions shuffle, so the answer may move between A, B, C, and D.
  • Use Pause to leave a quiz. Continue your saved exam when you return.

Changing the underlying material or explicitly remaking tools can invalidate saved practice. The app asks before destructive changes. Use Add questions when you want to grow the bank while keeping compatible progress.

Change the pace with a game

True or false

Read the statement. Swipe right for True or left for False, or use the labeled buttons. Play through the round, then see your score and review missed answers. There is no required answer countdown.

Quiz race

Choose a difficulty and race a simulated computer opponent. It is not another student or a live chat. The game uses saved questions and makes no new AI request.

Games are optional. Regular quizzes are always another way to practice the same saved material.

Use study guides & cards

The optional AI tools workflow can create an explained study guide and flashcards when an eligible adult has connected a supported AI account. Creating local No AI questions alone does not create a guide or cards. Saved guides and cards can be used offline.

In a guide, open a section, follow source references, or tap Read aloud. Share a reading copy when you need it outside the app.

In Cards, tap to reveal an answer. Swipe or use the buttons to mark a card for practice or as learned. All cards shows the complete deck; To learn shows cards you have not marked learned. Navigation buttons let you move between cards.

Remake study tools replaces the existing guide, cards, and quiz after confirmation. Choose Add questions if you only want more quiz practice.

Know what to practice next

Quiz results group performance by topic. Review missed answers, read available memory hints, and use the suggested review to revisit weak areas. XP and learned-card counts make progress visible.

These are practice signals, not a school grade or a diagnosis. A correct sentence-completion answer shows recall of the notes; try explaining the idea in your own words too.

Make studying easier to read & use

Open Settings for larger text, extra spacing, less movement, and light or dark appearance. Larger text may need more scrolling so nothing has to be squeezed or cut off.

Read aloud uses available local voices. Choose a reading speed and installed language in Settings. Pause, resume, or stop at any time. Reading stops when you change the material or leave the app. It reads text; it does not translate or describe a diagram’s meaning.

Swipe actions have labeled button alternatives. Controls and progress messages are being tested for keyboard and assistive technology access.

Our accessibility target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA, informed by useful WCAG 3 draft guidance. We do not claim a completed independent conformance certification. If something prevents you from studying, email an accessibility report with the screen, task, device, and assistive technology you used. No student records are needed.

Optional AI: an adult’s account & choice

The public release is being prepared with optional OpenRouter for adults aged 18 or older. ChatGPT subscription sign-in is not currently offered in the public App Store release. Children can use local questions and imported quizzes without an AI account.

  1. An eligible adult opens Settings → Parent & teacher setup.
  2. Connect OpenRouter through its sign-in page. Choose an available model.
  3. Read what will be shared, then decide whether to allow study text for that account.
  4. Choose AI creation only when you want to send material.

The selected user pays with their own OpenRouter credits. Those credits are separate from ChatGPT or Claude subscriptions. Model availability, usage limits, and prices can change. Study Partner does not supply a publisher-funded AI account.

AI requests send relevant extracted text, lesson details, source references, and highlights. Adding questions can send existing question stems and topics to reduce repeats. Original document and photo files are not sent by the native generation request. OpenRouter and its downstream model providers process the request under their policies. Read the full AI privacy disclosure.

Adults can create a quiz and share it with a student; this does not authorize a child to use an adult’s AI account. An age declaration is not verified age or verified parental consent.

While AI is working

Progress shows the current phase and elapsed time. You may close the progress panel and use other parts of the open app. Keep the app active: iOS can pause work when you lock the phone, leave, or force-close it. Interrupted work needs a manual retry; the app does not silently repeat a paid request. Saved tools change only after a valid result is ready.

Send notes from a laptop

  1. Connect the laptop and iPhone to the same trusted private Wi-Fi network.
  2. In Study Partner, choose Add notes → From computer.
  3. Type the exact address shown on the phone into the laptop’s browser.
  4. Enter the pairing code, then send selected files or pasted notes.

Keep Study Partner open. The transfer closes after ten minutes or when the app goes into the background. School or guest networks may block local connections; use Files import if that happens.

The temporary transfer uses local HTTP, not encrypted HTTPS. Pairing controls access but does not encrypt traffic from someone able to observe the network. This is a transfer page, not a laptop study app or public cloud library.

Save a backup & share carefully

Open Settings → Parent & teacher setup → Backups → Save backup. Save the file somewhere private. It contains your topics, originals, study tools, and practice progress. AI account credentials are excluded.

Use Restore backup to add saved topics as copies. The export limit is 100 MB including the files in the backup; share large original files separately when necessary. Study Partner does not add password encryption to exports.

Back up before deleting the app or changing devices. The publisher does not keep a recovery copy of your library. The app’s study storage is excluded from its automatic iCloud device-backup path.

The share sheet sends a file to the person or service you choose. Shared quizzes can include source excerpts and highlights. Deleting a topic later cannot erase copies someone else already received.

Delete material or disconnect an account

Use the topic’s delete control and confirm Delete topic to remove its local notes, study tools, and progress. Original files are queued for removal; if removal cannot finish immediately, the app retries later. Remove a single source from My notes; the app explains that this resets the topic’s generated tools and practice.

In Settings → Parent & teacher setup, choose the AI account and tap Disconnect. This removes its saved local account record and credentials while keeping your study tools. Also revoke provider access when instructed. Local deletion cannot delete provider-held requests or exported files.

For provider data, use the provider’s privacy controls. For an email or website privacy request, contact joe@stuffedcart.com. We cannot remotely erase a device library. Read the privacy policy for the complete scope.

Something didn’t work

The file is taking a long time

Wait for a cloud file to download, try a smaller chapter, or use a text-based PDF instead of a large scan. Clear, straight photos read more reliably. Check the size, page limits, and supported formats above.

No useful questions appeared

Open My notes and check that the source has readable sentences. Correct OCR errors or paste clear text. Local recall needs enough distinct wording. Import a teacher-reviewed quiz when the material is mainly images or equations.

AI stopped or returned an error

Your saved notes and study tools stay in place. Read the message, check the connection and the selected account’s credits/model availability, then choose whether to retry. Avoid repeated attempts while a request is still running. Local questions and saved quizzes remain available.

I can’t find my work

Do not delete the app as a troubleshooting step. Check Home and any saved backups first. A support email cannot recover material that was never backed up from a lost or erased device.

We’re here to help

Email joe@stuffedcart.com. Include the app version, device and iOS version, what you tapped, and the exact error. For imports, add the file type, size, and page count. For an accessibility issue, tell us the task and assistive technology.

Do not send passwords, API keys, sign-in tokens, or confidential student records. Crop personal information from screenshots. We do not need a full student library for an initial report.
